LTL (less than load) shipping is used to ship infrared saunas.   Your sauna is packaged, then palletized and placed on a semi-trailer for shipment.  Damage occurs most often by  stacking, shifting or fork lifts.  Many infrared sauna companies chose very cheap LTL carriers to transport your very expensive infrared sauna.

Always ask which carrier will be used to transport your infrared sauna.  There are several companies that use top rated carriers and many that use the cheapest available.  Your odds of damage are much higher with the latter.

How the sauna company packages your infrared sauna is equally important to minimize damage.  Several companies use the "taco" method.  This is where plywood is nailed to the pallet on all four sides.  This limits damage from shifting and inexperienced forklift drivers.  Be extremely careful with companies who don't use the taco method, your risk of damage is very high according to our surveys.

Lift gates are often not explained.  Your infrared sauna will be delivered in a semi-trailer.  If you have a driveway that's long, uphill or not accessible to a large semi-truck, you will need to mention this to the company  from whom you are purchasing your infrared sauna.  This may result in the delay of your delivery or additional delivery costs.

If a lift gate is not added to your shipment's BOL (Bill of Lading) there is absolutely NO WAY you will be able to have your sauna delivered unless you have a dock within a commercial location.  Most companies selling infrared saunas are aware of this, however you would be surprised how many either forget to add this option to the BOL or wait until the truck is in front of your home to mention that it costs more.

Always ask the company if a lift gate is included in your delivery.
